President Tinubu appoints Bianca Ojukwu as Foreign Affairs Minister, nominates Enikanolaiye as Minister of State

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the substantive Minister of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

The transition follows Tuggar’s decision to step down from his cabinet role to participate in the upcoming 2027 general elections, according to a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Ambassador Ojukwu, who previously served as the Minister of State within the same ministry, now moves into the primary leadership role to oversee Nigeria’s international relations.

In a related move, the President has nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye to fill the now-vacant position of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.

Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, most recently served as a Senior Special Assistant to the President and boasts over thirty years of experience in the foreign service.

The Presidency noted that these strategic appointments are intended to revitalize the nation’s foreign policy framework and strengthen global partnerships for improved national efficiency.
President Tinubu has charged the new appointees to prioritize economic diplomacy while diligently safeguarding the interests and welfare of Nigerians residing both at home and abroad.
