Kwankwaso denies secret alliance with Tinubu ahead of 2027

Kwankwaso denies secret alliance with Tinubu ahead of 2027

Former Kano State governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has firmly denied rumors suggesting he is secretly working to favor President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambitions in the 2027 presidential election.

The veteran politician clarified that his long-standing personal relationship with President Tinubu should not be misinterpreted as a shared political ideology. He emphasized that while they have known each other for decades, they firmly belong to opposing political camps with entirely different visions for Nigeria.

Kwankwaso strongly criticized the president’s inner circle, accusing close aides of shielding Tinubu from the harsh realities of the country’s situation. He argued that rather than helping the presidency tackle critical economic and security crises, these officials are wastefully focusing their energies on poaching opposition governors and politicians into the APC.

Shifting focus to his new political alignment, Kwankwaso opened up about his strategic alliance with Peter Obi under the NDC umbrella. He explained that the decision to back Obi as the coalition’s ideal choice from southern Nigeria was the product of exhaustive consultations and deliberate political calculations.

Addressing the timeline for the next general elections, the NDC leader noted that the emerging opposition coalition still has ample time to engage with citizens nationwide. He expressed confidence that their grassroots outreach would successfully dispel the malicious rumors and deliberate misinformation being spread against them.

Ultimately, Kwankwaso reiterated that the primary goal of the new alliance is to rescue the nation by providing quality leadership and presenting a formidable alternative to Nigeria’s current governance challenges.

The former presidential candidate dismissed those weaponizing the secret-alliance rumors, describing them as individuals who lack a fundamental understanding of modern political dynamics.

Speaking directly on the matter during a recent interview with Global TV, the opposition leader held nothing back regarding the integrity of his political platform.

“Only fools will believe that we are working for Tinubu. My supporters and I are working for the NDC and for what we believe will benefit Nigerians,” Kwankwaso stated.
