Yusuf Buhari, the son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has officially entered the political arena by declaring his bid for a seat in the House of Representatives.
He is set to contest for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State, a move that marks his first major step into the nation’s legislative landscape.
The announcement was made public by Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential media aide, who confirmed that Yusuf shared his intentions during a high-profile visit to the state capital.
Yusuf visited Governor Dikko Radda on Wednesday to formally present his political ambitions and seek the necessary support for his upcoming campaign.
Ahmad shared the update on social media, writing, “Today, Yusuf Buhari, son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, visited the Governor of Katsina, Dr Dikko Radda, as he formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Daura, Sandamu and Mai’Adua Federal Constituency.”
The young Buhari will be running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the same party through which his father served as president.
The decision follows an extensive period of wide consultations with influential stakeholders and political allies who hold significant weight in the Katsina political scene.
