Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, alongside the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
The visit came shortly after the Emir formally announced the appointment of Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Imam Fulani as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin Emirate on June 10, 2026.
During the meeting, Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the Emir on the appointment of Sheikh Dasuki, describing it as a significant development for the Muslim community.
He prayed for divine guidance, protection, wisdom, and good health for the new Chief Imam as he assumes the important spiritual responsibility.
The Governor also formally presented Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu to the Emir as the APC governorship candidate for the forthcoming Kwara State governorship election.

In response, the Emir offered prayers and royal blessings for the candidate, wishing him success in his political aspirations.
Political observers have interpreted the presentation of Danladi-Salihu to the Emir as a strategic move aimed at strengthening grassroots support, consolidating political acceptance, and signaling continuity in the administration’s development agenda ahead of the next governorship election.
The visit underscored the longstanding relationship between the state government and the traditional institution, while highlighting the significance of royal endorsement and community engagement in Kwara’s political landscape.
