The Governing Council of Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, has highly commended a staff member, Mr. Shamsuddeen Hussaini, for showing exceptional integrity.
Mr. Hussaini earned this praise after rejecting a ₦1 million bribe offered to compromise the academic results of a Higher National Diploma student.
The institution’s Governing Council reached the decision to honour him during its 9th Regular Meeting held on July 3, 2026.
The Polytechnic’s Registrar, Mallam Ismaila Umar, officially disclosed the development while addressing journalists in his office on Monday, July 13, 2026.
Mallam Umar explained that Mr. Hussaini works diligently as an Executive Officer within the institution’s Registry Department.
Instead of taking the ₦1,000,000 inducement, the officer immediately reported the illegal offer through the appropriate official channels.
His quick actions successfully ensured that the integrity of the Polytechnic’s academic records and examination processes remained completely intact.
The Council received the report with immense pride, describing his honesty and unwavering commitment to the school’s core values as exemplary.
In recognition of his honesty, the Council approved a formal Letter of Commendation alongside a cash reward of ₦100,000.
Management has now forwarded a recommendation to the Jigawa State Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology to further honour Mr. Hussaini.
