Troops from the 65 Battalion, led by Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S Adeojo, have smashed a suspected illegal oil bunkering operation in the Orile area of Lagos State.
Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 81 Division, confirmed the success of the raid in an official statement.
Acting on precise intelligence, soldiers stormed the hideout and took six suspected oil bunkerers into custody.
The swift tactical operation also yielded a significant haul of equipment, including four heavy trucks, a high-capacity pumping machine, and various pipes and storage drums.
Military authorities have since transferred all six suspects along with the confiscated machinery to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for detailed investigation and prosecution.
“The General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, commended the troops for the successful operation and charged them to sustain the offensive against economic sabotage and other criminal activities within the 81 Division area of responsibility,” the statement said.
