The Department of State Services, DSS has arraigned five suspects in the Imo State High Court following the October 1 kidnapping of 20 prospective corps members.
Security operatives arrested the five men during targeted intelligence operations across Rivers and Abia states between October 10 and 14.
Those facing trial in court are Mohammed Ali, Usman Aliyu, Babangida Aliyu, Ibrahim Jiji, and Aminu Haliru.
Several other gang members escaped with gunshot wounds during the raids, prompting security forces to intensify their manhunt.
The corps members were traveling from Ibadan to orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom when gunmen intercepted their vehicle.
The abduction raised widespread alarm regarding the safety of young graduates traveling across state lines for national service.
On October 7, a joint security team successfully rescued all 20 victims and another passenger in the Amakohia-Ubi community of Imo State.
Following their rescue, the victims were brought to the DSS hospital in Owerri for medical evaluation and care.
