Armed bandits on Thursday attacked Lata Nna community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting one resident in a fresh incident that has heightened concerns over insecurity in the area.
The victim, identified as Mohammed Abubakar Ndapkada, was reportedly kidnapped between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. during the attack.
According to community sources, the kidnappers contacted residents shortly after the abduction to confirm that Mohammed was in their custody.
They also allowed him to speak briefly with his brother over the phone.
During the conversation, Mohammed reportedly said he had been blindfolded and did not know his location.
As of the time of filing this report, the abductors had not made any ransom demand or communicated conditions for his release.
The incident comes only weeks after security operatives successfully repelled a similar attack in Lata Nna, highlighting the persistent security challenges facing communities in Patigi Local Government Area.
Residents have renewed calls on the Kwara State Government, the Federal Government, and security agencies to intensify security operations in the area and secure the safe release of the abducted victim.
Community members have repeatedly raised concerns about the worsening security situation, sending distress calls to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and appealing through various media platforms for increased military presence and sustained security intervention in Lata Nna and neighbouring communities.
They warned that without urgent action, more communities could remain vulnerable to recurring attacks by armed bandits.
