The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old housewife for allegedly attacking her sleeping husband with a knife and inflicting a deep wound on his neck.
The violent incident took place within the Katsina metropolis and was later confirmed in an official statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.
The victim, Jamilu Ibrahim, managed to report the assault at the Central Market Police Division around 9:00 a.m., explaining that his wife, Sadiya Lawal, ambushed him at about 5:30 a.m. while he was fast asleep.
Police details reveal that the suspect allegedly attempted to slit her husband’s throat with a sharp knife during the early morning attack.
Suffering from a severe cut to his neck, Ibrahim was rushed to a nearby hospital where authorities confirm he is currently stable and responding well to medical treatment.
Following the victim’s report, detectives quickly visited the scene of the crime to arrest the suspect and successfully recovered the knife believed to have been used in the assault.
The police command stated that Sadiya Lawal remains in custody as detectives continue to investigate the underlying circumstances that led to the near-fatal attack.
