Shooting Stars technical adviser, Nurudeen Aweroro, has commended his players after the club secured a third-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season.
The Oluyole Warriors also clinched a continental ticket for the first time in more than two decades, marking a significant achievement for the Ibadan-based club.
Aweroro attributed the success to the commitment and hard work of the players as well as the contributions of the club’s backroom staff throughout the campaign.
“To God be all the praise — He made this possible, I’m deeply humbled to lead this group,” Aweroro stated in a chat with the media.
The coach also expressed appreciation to the club’s management for its support during the season.
“My heartfelt thanks to Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami for the belief and backing,” he said.
Aweroro downplayed his own contribution to the achievement, insisting that the players and support staff deserved most of the credit for the successful campaign. “If I’m honest, my role was small. The heart, sweat, and sacrifice came from the players who gave everything, and the staff who worked day and night out of sight,” he stated.
He further called on supporters and the media to recognise the efforts of the team. “Media and fans, I’m begging you, celebrate these boys and the backroom team more. They deserve every cheer, every headline,” Aweroro added.
