A new video has emerged showing ISWAP fighters reportedly burying about 30 of their members following a series of heavy airstrikes by the Nigerian military in northern Borno.
The footage, which captures the aftermath of the specialized operation, was shared on X by Lake Chad security expert Zagazola Makama.
This mass burial follows a successful military engagement earlier on Wednesday that wiped out a significant number of insurgents across the Lake Chad region.
According to Makama, the terrorists held the burial rites in the Mallam Fatori axis after being hit by precision missions under Operation HADIN KAI.
Sources confirmed that the air interdictions were authorized after surveillance tracked the fighters moving through the waterways near Kaniram Island.
The intelligence-led mission successfully intercepted the group’s logistics, leaving the remaining insurgents to deal with the heavy casualties seen in the video.
