Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has publicly taken a swipe at the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) following her omission from the 2026 nominations list.
According to RibsMedia, the nominations for the 12th edition of the prestigious awards were recently unveiled, with several notable names making the cut. Among them is Afegbai’s co-star in *To Kill A Monkey*, Bimbo Akintola, who secured a nomination for Best Lead Actress.
However, Afegbai’s absence from the list has stirred controversy, with the actress openly expressing her displeasure. She argued that her portrayal of Idia in the widely talked-about series *To Kill A Monkey* stood out and resonated strongly with audiences.
In a reaction that has since gained traction online, Afegbai insisted that her character was the most talked-about from the production, suggesting her performance deserved recognition.
Despite her criticism, the actress maintained that she is not dependent on awards for validation, even as she delivered a blunt message to the organisers.
Taking to her X handle, she wrote, “AMVCA smh. I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason.
“I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear: Nobody trended like Idia from TKAM last year. Her acting was 100. You guys can eat your award.”
