Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwole, widely known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff.
The governor also approved the appointment of Mrs. Aderonke Adedayo as the Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office.
The new cabinet postings were formally announced on Monday in Ibadan through official letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Musibau Babatunde.
A statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, detailed the background and scope of the newly appointed officials.
“Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as the state Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, while Mrs Adedayo, who currently serves as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies, will combine her existing role with her new responsibilities,” the statement read.
Taking immediate effect, Governor Makinde congratulated both appointees while charging them to discharge their duties with utmost loyalty, commitment, and dedication.
The reshuffle follows the sudden departure of the former Chief of Staff, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, who tendered his resignation earlier on Monday, October 12, 2026.
Ogunwuyi, a former state and federal lawmaker, joins a growing list of senior aides who have stepped down from Governor Makinde’s administration over the past two months.
“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” Ogunwuyi stated in his resignation letter, expressing profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state.
