Dangote Refinery has dropped its wholesale fuel price across Nigeria for the second time in just two weeks.
The facility cut its gantry price to 1,125 Naira per litre, giving oil marketers a direct 50 Naira discount from the previous rate.
Company spokesperson Anthony Chijiena confirmed the welcome price drop to reporters on Thursday afternoon.
Major distributors buying fuel by the shipload also got relief, with coastal supply prices dropping significantly per metric tonne.
The refinery is passing on savings to Nigerians after international crude oil prices fell back to around 70 dollars a barrel.
This latest move brings the total wholesale discount from the refinery to 125 Naira per litre this month alone.
While filling stations in Abuja are currently selling fuel for over 1,240 Naira, motorists hope this latest cut will force retail prices down quickly.
Many Nigerians are still pushing for a return to the 800 Naira petrol prices enjoyed before the Middle East crisis disrupted energy markets earlier this year.
