Kimberly Daniels, a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives, has accused Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of attempting to bribe a US official.
Daniels, who represents District 14, made the allegation in a viral video shared on her official Facebook account.
She claimed the alleged move was aimed at deflecting the narrative of a report by the United World Congress of Diplomats.
According to her, the report indicted Matawalle over issues related to killings of Christians in Nigeria.
“A US elected official was offered money by Nigeria’s minister of state defense, Bello Matawalle, to change the narrative of the UN-WCD Christian genocide in Nigeria report,” she said.
Daniels maintained that no amount of pressure would make her back down from speaking on the issue.
She had earlier called on President Bola Tinubu to remove Matawalle over alleged complicity in killings across Plateau, Benue, Kaduna and other states.
Matawalle has yet to respond publicly to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
